This Pure Grade A, maple syrup is the real deal. Perfectly crafted in Vermont, it's delicious and a true full-flavored maple syrup. However, just like any other maple syrup, it's overly packed with carbs. This syrup has 53 grams of carbs and sugar per serving. I'm getting sleepy just thinking about that amount of sugar.
I've always loved pancakes topped with rich, buttery, maple syrup. But even as a kid, a stack of pancakes topped with sugary filled maple syrup, washed down with a glass of orange juice used to make me feel nauseous and sleepy. That's a great state to be in when it's time to head off for school right? Not so much. I can't believe I was allowed to consume orange juice with it (my mother may have been trying to kill me).
Joking aside, as I got older the combination of pancakes and syrup (even when not consuming orange juice with it) still used to make me feel like crap after I'd eat them. So as much as I loved pancakes and syrup I stopped eating them. But then once low carb / low sugar pancake and syrup options became available, it was life changing. I could again enjoy one of my favorite meals without feeling like I was going to go into a coma. While it's true that the low carb maple syrup options are actually maple "flavored" syrups, they taste so similar to the real deal, are friendly to you pant size and won't make you feel like you haven't slept in a year, that in my opinion they are a million times better than actual maple syrup.
